On Friday 26th September 2025, Exeter Phoenix played host to ‘When Rivers Meet‘.

Since their 2019 debut, When Rivers Meet — British duo Grace and Aaron Bond — have become a leading force in modern blues rock. Their 2023 album Aces Are High, recorded by a Suffolk river, propelled them into the UK Top 10 as the first independent rock/blues band to achieve the feat. With three studio albums, multiple “Band of the Year” titles, Hall of Fame honours, and sell-out shows across continents, they’ve built a reputation for authenticity and creative independence. Fresh from attending the 2024 BRIT Awards, the pair continue to champion self-released music while preparing their next studio album for 2025.

This post features a stunning photo collection by Involving Music photographer Robert Piwko, taken during When Rivers Meet’s performance at Exeter Phoenix. His images capture the spirit of the night — the buzz of the crowd, the closeness of the venue, and the unforgettable energy that defined the show.

WHEN RIVERS MEET

When Rivers Meet brought their trademark fire to Exeter Phoenix on Friday 26 September 2025, delivering a night of soulful, high-voltage blues-rock that proved why they’re one of Britain’s most exciting live bands. Led by husband-and-wife duo Grace and Aaron Bond, the Essex group has built a reputation for mixing raw emotion with impeccable musicianship — and this show was no exception. Across two and a half hours, they blended crowd favourites, deep cuts, and select covers, filling the room with warmth, grit, and pure connection. Fans praised the duo’s onstage chemistry and the band’s tight performance, marking the opening night of their new tour as one to remember.

Formed in 2016, When Rivers Meet has become a defining force in modern British blues-rock, balancing independence with acclaim. With seven #1 chart positions and induction into the UK Blues Hall of Fame, their rise has been powered by authenticity rather than hype. Albums like Aces Are High and Addicted To You broke new ground, reaching the upper ranks of the UK charts while keeping creative control firmly in their hands. Now selling out venues across the UK, Europe, and the US, they continue to turn every stage into a storm of sound and soul. At Exeter Phoenix, that spirit burned bright — proof that When Rivers Meet aren’t just keeping the blues alive, they’re pushing it forward.
