Independent musicians often have to work out their next steps without the support available to artists signed to major labels. The Sonar Presents Music Convention aims to offer practical help, alongside the chance to meet others working in grassroots music.
Taking place on Saturday 14 November 2026 at Bread & Roses in Clapham, London, the convention welcomes independent musicians and songwriters. Emerging artists and music industry professionals are also invited.
What’s happening at the convention?
The programme includes free songwriting workshops with award-winning songwriter Tony Moore, giving musicians an opportunity to develop their songwriting skills.
There will also be free press photo shoots and the premiere of the music documentary Follow Your Hunches.
Industry talks will explore:
- Getting your music synced for film and screen.
- Marketing yourself as an artist.
- Life on tour.
- Recognising and avoiding music industry scams.
Alongside the sessions, attendees will have opportunities to meet fellow musicians and build industry connections. The event is intended for people starting out, as well as artists who feel unsure about their next step.
A first look at the Sonar Presents app
Convention attendees will be the first people to see Sonar Presents’ forthcoming music discovery app, ahead of its scheduled public launch on Sunday 15 November 2026.
The app is designed to help emerging artists reach listeners beyond traditional discovery algorithms. Its approach includes curated music drops and community recommendations, with an emphasis on direct connections between artists and fans.
Sonar Presents says it wants discovery to give greater weight to early-stage talent and cultural relevance, rather than popularity figures or the size of an artist’s marketing budget.
About Sonar Presents
Sonar Presents is a UK-based grassroots music platform curated by three industry professionals. Its work focuses on discovering emerging artists and helping independent music reach an audience.
The convention reflects its wider aim of supporting grassroots music and opening up opportunities beyond an industry model in which larger marketing budgets can carry considerable influence.
