Tony Moore's AWAKE: Cinematic Prog-Rock at Frome Festival

Sonar Presents invites you to a night of prog-rock spectacle with acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Tony Moore’s one-man show AWAKE, live at The Tunnels, Frome on Wednesday 8th July 2026, as part of Frome Festival.

Combining a grandiose sonic landscape with cinematic visuals, AWAKE is the latest passion project of musical journeyman Tony Moore. Based on his 2024 concept album of the same name, the nearly two-hour show was originally devised as a residential installation at The Bedford in Balhah, where he serves as Director of Music, Art and Development. These shows quickly gained a cult following, and Moore is now bringing this immersive audiovisual experience on the road, with a homecoming stop in the West Country.

Moore’s musical journey is storied, featuring some of music’s most high-profile figures, and it began in his hometown of Bristol. As a young musician, he was inspired by his environment. While working in the Hi-Fi department of his local Debenhams, he saw an advert from a London band who were in need of a keyboard player, so he tucked his KORG under his arm and ran away with the proverbial circus to join the band that would turn out to be Iron Maiden.

This chance encounter was the first step toward a long career built on passionate creativity and continuous innovation. After stepping away from Iron Maiden, Tony joined a slew of other high-profile bands, including Cutting Crew (of (I Just) Died in Your Arms Tonight fame), Brian James’ post-The Damned project, Tanz Der Youth, which took him on the road opening for metal pioneers, Black Sabbath. After touring and performing to millions over several decades, Tony performed his original song, “We Are The Light,” at the closing ceremony of the 2019 Olympic Games, bringing his music to the world stage and cementing his place in history.

Along with carving out his own musical reputation, Moore has also been a champion of the grassroots music scene, having founded and managed venues that platform emerging artists for the better part of 30 years, even providing the debut London shows for acclaimed songwriters such as Damien Rice and KT Tunstall. As well as providing award-winning venues to showcase these up-and-coming artists, Moore has also established himself as a broadcaster, presenting BBC Radio Shows and the Bedford Bandstand music program, with an aim of bringing new artists to the forefront. His efforts on behalf of the unsigned and independent music scene didn’t go unrecognised and saw him awarded with an induction into the Music Manager’s Forum for his Outstanding Contribution to British Music.
