Fri 26 Jun 2026, Truro Cathedral, Truro
Perello Duo comprises Mike Hughes, vibraphonist, and Eleanor Kelly, classical guitarist, who are soloists in their own right and together offer a unique duo performing to great acclaim throughout the UK. Their programme will feature a mixture of classical, Latin, and jazz standards, with delicious arrangements of music by Erik Satie, Laurie Randolph, Carmen Guzmn, Antnio Carlos Jobim and more. Mike Hughes is a much respected vibraphonist admired for his fluid technique, refined touch and deep understanding of the instrument. Drawing inspiration from both jazz and classical repertoire, Mike combines melodic clarity with rhythmic sparkle. He creates a sound that is both relaxed and compelling and is known for his ability to bring warmth, colour and lift to any ensemble. Committed to developing a wider understanding of the vibraphone, Mike has collaborated with contemporary classical composers and leading musicians on the British jazz scene. Eleanor Kelly has extensive experience as a performer, with notable engagements including Palacio del Portalet (Spain), Uppsala Internationella Gitarrfestival (Sweden), and Finding A Voice festival (Ireland), and made her London debut premiering works commissioned for her by the International Guitar Foundation at Kings Place, London (UK). A passionate advocate for women in music, Eleanor specialises in lesser-known repertoire by both historical and contemporary women composers. In March 2026, Eleanor released her debut album of works by the Argentine composer Carmen Guzmn, which includes world premiere recordings of the composer's guitar works. Admission is free and donations are most welcome to support the artists.
