Under Tony Quinn, the Band Leader, The New Washboard Syncopators originally started in 2003 in West Midlands before re-forming in the South West region with experienced Devon and Cornwall musicians. Since its relocation, venues have included Plymouth, Bude, Stoke Climsland and Kingsbridge jazz clubs and the RNLI annual fund raising event at Port Isaac. Their music stems mainly from the 1920s/30s and is under the umbrella of Trad/New Orleans jazz. The band line up is the usual trumpet, clarinet/sax, trombone and banjo but with a percussionist/washboard player and a tuba player who, before moving to the UK, was employed by the Walt Disney Corporation as a musician in the theme parks.

PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER.

Involving Music connects South West artists, venues and audiences through spotlights, playlists, gigs, editorial and discovery.

It’s a platform built to keep local music visible and give the scene more room to grow.
