Venice Treacle
About Venice Treacle:
Groove-enhanced quirk punk for the progressively confused (file under no-wave, kosmische psychedelia and quank), Venice Treacle mix acid-sharp guitar riffs with rapturous rhythms to make songs for our troubled times. Named after the English version of Theriac — the world’s first branded pharmaceutical — the band offers an antidote to the modern madness. Their debut EP, Modern Elixir (out now on Quanksquatch Records), chronicles journeys to and across the End of the World, offering top tips for surviving capitalist anarchy, navigating burning landscapes, skirmishing with lifeforms evolved far beyond their modified genes, and choosing the tastiest canned goods. It was recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios and played in its entirety by BBC Introducing in the West. Venice Treacle have been honing a live show that is energetic, unstable and increasingly well attended, and have played some prestigious dates: Boardmasters, Cornish Bank's Summer Camp, the Surfers Against Sewage Anniversary Ball and Live at Scorrier House. Intensely personal but with something for everyone, a spoonful of Venice Treacle will raise your mood and set your feet on fire.
